A rule you no longer want active can be turned off or deleted, and these are meaningfully different actions.
Turning off
Pauses the rule. It stops generating new violations, but its definition and history of past violations remain intact. Turning it back on resumes checking without losing anything.
Deleting
Removes the rule's definition entirely. Past violations it generated remain in your violation history for the record, but the rule itself can't be turned back on; you'd need to recreate it.
Which one to choose
Turn a rule off if you might reactivate it later. Delete only when you're confident you won't need this exact rule definition again.
