Scan limits, rate limits and large-site behaviour

Last reviewed Sep 6, 2026

Most scans complete well within a normal session. Very large sites, or systems with strict rate limits, behave a little differently.

Large sites

A site with a very large number of pages may take longer to fully scan. Scan prioritises pages most likely to be campaign-related first, so early findings can appear before a full scan finishes.

Rate-limited systems

Some connected systems apply their own rate limits to how much data can be read in a given period. When a scan hits one of these limits, Scan picks up where it left off on the next scheduled or manual scan, rather than failing outright.

What this means for you

Partial results are expected, not a failure

If a scan of a large or heavily rate-limited system doesn't return everything at once, that's expected behaviour, not a failure. Running another scan later, or waiting for the next scheduled one, typically completes what's outstanding.
