The total number of times a page was loaded or reloaded in a browser, counted every time it happens, including repeat views by the same visitor within a single session.
Why it matters
Pageviews measure raw page-level traffic volume but, like sessions, can overstate actual reach if a small number of visitors are generating many page loads — it's most useful in combination with unique visitors and time-on-page, not as a standalone success metric.
In a sentence
"The blog post got a lot of pageviews, but a closer look showed most of that was a small number of people repeatedly refreshing to check for a comment reply, not broad new readership."
